City View Room

The City View Room (and rooftop terrace) features sweeping views of the top landmarks in the nation’s capital. This customizable event space provides an exceptional backdrop for your ideal event.

Jack Morton Auditorium

Housed in the Media and Public Affairs building on the 1st floor

Jack Morton Auditorium (JMA) is a fixed seat auditorium that offers full multimedia and television production capabilities, digital sound, video recording and video conferencing. It is an ideal location for hosting panel discussions, debates, keynote speakers, and multi-media presentations.

Lisner Auditorium

Lisner Auditorium is a state-of-the-art venue that is an anchor for arts and culture at the George Washington University. Lisner Auditorium is uniquely suited to host high profile political and celebrity speakers, iconic musical artists, international entertainers, and a wide variety of community events for GW and the greater Washington D.C. area.

State Room

Housed on the 7th floor in the Elliott School of International Affairs building. 

The State Room is a fixed-seat venue with the capacity to seat up to 70 people in a horseshoe-style seating arrangement with windows that showcase the picturesque view of the monuments and the National Mall.

The University Student Center is the main hub of the George Washington University's Foggy Bottom campus. From study rooms to meeting spaces, large ballrooms and theaters, the student center offers a variety of spaces for students to study, work and socialize.

Anniversary Park

Complete with a garden, benches and grills for gathering. Anniversary Park is a valued space on the south end of the city campus.

Flag Campaign Space

Grassy area between Lisner Auditorium and Tabling Row

Small flags are allowed to be displayed to raise awareness for a cause. The cause should directly relate to the student organization or department mission. This location is not meant for programming or advertisements.

Hillel Rooftop Terrace

Kogan Plaza

Students, faculty and staff enjoy Kogan Plaza as a popular outdoor space for student organization activities, university-sponsored events and a variety of student life gatherings. Situated beside Gelman Library and behind Lisner Auditorium, the benches flanking the tree-lined walkways are sought-after spots to catch up with a friend or relax al fresco between classes.

Potomac Square is a large outdoor paved area with tables and chairs and can be reserved for a variety of events.

Square 80 is a sustainable park complete with trellised seating, a solar panel and an activity lawn.

Brick pathway between Professor’s Gate and the tempietto

Numbered labels in the ground denote the location of each of the four table spaces. Outdoor table space is used to distribute informational material and is not intended to be used as event space.

University Yard

A quiet oasis nestled in the heart of an urban campus, University Yard is a favorite outdoor spot for students to study, relax and meet up with friends. It is also the site of major university events throughout the year, such as the annual Fall Fest concert and other performances. University Yard’s green space is studded with benches and trees. In addition, the center of University Yard is where the brick walkways of GW Law School and other academic buildings converge, making this a convenient place to spend time between classes.

Academic Spaces

GW's academic spaces are primarily reserved for academic purposes, but outside of instruction these spaces can be used for meetings, lectures and special events. Visit the Academic Scheduling website to view their reservation and rental procedures.

Academic space may be requested for use by faculty/staff and schedulers for student organizations via EMS. Outside groups must have a GW sponsor in order to rent space and must be either a non-profit or government organization. Outside groups may only rent space in the Summer semester.
